Volunteer Groups sought for 32nd Cheese & Wine Expo Our organizers of the 32nd Riverbank Cheese and Wine Exposition are planning for one the biggest years yet - and they are looking for volunteers. According to 2008 Expo President Chris Elswick, “...the event is the product of hundreds of volunteers who work together for a common goal; to produce a great show for the community and raise money for deserving organizations and services.” In the past two years the Expo has given back over $100,000 to charitable organizations. Any local nonprofit organization is eligible to apply and volunteers are needed in all areas of production. Some areas may require certain skills but most will work with experienced volunteers. Once an organization is accepted they will be contacted by the volunteer coordinator and assigned an area of responsibility with a bank of hours. It is the organizations responsibility to fill the hours with volunteers and be ready to work at the assigned time and place. Assignments will made by the volunteer coordinator. The organizations volunteers or their contact person and/or representative will be expected to attend a mandatory information meeting in September. Applications are available online or in the Exposition Headquarters at 6888 Third Street in downtown Riverbank. The office is currently open on Wednesdays. The event is produced by the Riverbank Rotary Club in cooperation with the City of Riverbank.
